Howes Family History

Thomas Howes

Thomas Howes (1737-1819), my 5 x great Grandfather, was baptised in St Mary’s parish church on the 5th March 1737. Where he was born we shall never know. It could have been anywhere within the parish of Woodford, namely Farndon, Hinton or Woodford itself. It is probable that he worked as an agricultural labourer within the parish. On 21st November 1759 at Aston le Walls he married Mary Allet. They had three sons, William born in 1760, Thomas in 1762 and John in 1763. Woodford parish records show that he died in Hinton and was buried in the churchyard of St Mary’s parish church at Woodford on the 13th August 1819 at the grand age of 82. His wife Mary survived him by nearly 12 years, dying in Hinton and buried at St Mary’s on 3rd August 1831 at the age of 94.
